Glass container mold castings
We cast the mold material that San Miguel Yamamura Fuso Molds Corporation machines into bottle molds for the glass plants in Manila, Cavite and Cebu, and have done so since 1986. Molybdenum gray iron for bodies, nickel-chrome iron and silicon bronze for neck rings, annealed in our own ovens with the curve recorded.
What we cast
- Blank and blow mold bodies in molybdenum-alloyed gray iron (SY-96 / OI-96 type), chilled cavities where specified
- Neck rings and guide plates in nickel-chrome iron and in Minox-type 1% silicon bronze, 30% new ingot in the charge
- Baffles, bottom plates, inserts, blow heads and funnels
- Billets and semi-finished mold material for your own machine shop
Why a glass plant buys from a foundry 30 minutes away
- Two-week lead times on standing items; emergency pours on request
- No currency risk, no import paperwork, 30-day terms
- Annealing curve, hardness and chemistry with every lot; mold-life data shared both ways
- Defect analysis when a mold fails early, with our metallurgist and a US glass-mold consultant on call
- Reconditioning and repair support during the run
Materials, briefly
| Part | Alloy | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Mold bodies | Mo-alloyed gray iron, FC250 to FC300 base | Thermal fatigue resistance, machinability, stable pearlite after anneal |
| Neck rings | Ni-Cr gray iron | Wear at the finish, the glass plants' long-standing preference |
| Neck rings, premium | 1% Si bronze (Minox type) | Heat transfer and surface, longer life on fast machines |
| Plates and accessories | Gray iron, stainless where specified | Cost and function |
We keep each customer's drawings, patterns and data confidential and do not discuss one plant's parts with another.
